Operational Investing is an investment strategy which aims to generate investment return in the form of increased value by improving operational performance.
Other private equity strategies focus on leveraging existing products, markets, or technologies in strong companies with solid management teams. In these situations private equity investors, typically investment bankers with little operational experience, maintain an arms-length relationship while exerting their influence from the board room.
Operational investing is a “meat and potatoes” strategy that focuses on companies that may not be operating at peak performance levels, have weak or incomplete management teams, and have the potential to build value and drive profits through improved operational performance.
